Tis the Season...Is it a Wonderful Life?

Thursday, December 20, 2018 • Damon Stuart

Tis the season! Interesting word "Tis" which rarely is used except during the holidays from Thanksgiving to Christmas Day. For the trivia people out there it's meaning comes from the two words "it is" and how it came about was its origins in the Christmas Carol, "Deck the Halls," which was translated to English in 1862.

Deck the hall with boughs of holly, fa la la la la, la la la la.
'Tis the season to be jolly, fa la la la la la, la la la la

Of course, we have used the word Tis in other contexts when describing some other exciting events in life or even in advertising but today I want to share it from perspective God has been speaking to me about lately.

It's a wonderful life or is it a wonderful life? Something to think about isn't it? Of course, that movie It's a Wonderful Life is a classic during the Christmas season but for you is it a statement of fact or is it a question in your mind.

When looking back on this year we've all had some trials and victories we could all share. Some of you may have had a great year in your personal, family and career. But some of you may have had one of the most difficult years ever and can't wait for 2019 to get here.

As Christmas approaches, I have been reflecting a lot about this past year more than I have in previous years. This year started out in a whimper because no one was inviting me to come and minister and it was very slow. Having started my 11th year in ministry this year you would think it would be non-stop by now but that's not how it goes a lot of the time.

In fact, I'm going to be transparent here and share with you that I've had multiple prophetic words, from well-known respected ministers, that were identical in stating that the ministry God has given me would become so busy that I would have to start pushing incoming requests out to later dates just to fit them in my calendar. Those words were prophesied to me in the early part of this year.

However, it would be almost April before my ministry schedule finally started getting busy. From April to October I was able to go and minister in various places, events and conferences in Illinois, Wisconsin, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Georgia. I was not only just leading worship either at these events as my speaking/teaching part of the ministry has increased a lot more this year. Something the Lord said I would start doing more and more.

The services this year were the most presence filled I've been in with an increase of words of knowledge and prophetic words being released. I've been able to meet and become friends with some very well-known worship ministers and musicians that only the Lord could make happen. It's also been an amazing year in that Aglow International has played such a bigger role in having me minister at their events. From local, regional and in other states, invitations to minister at future Aglow events & conferences have already been confirmed for 2019 and 2020.

As many of you know by following me on Facebook and a few updates I've sent out I also made changes in my life from a physical standpoint. Having been overweight, out of shape and being diagnosed with high blood pressure, Type 2 Diabetes, bad cholesterol and triglycerides a change was needed.

Since that time until now I have been able to lose 43 pounds by walking five miles almost daily and changing my diet to eating the right kind of food as well as the proper portion sizes. I no longer have Type 2 Diabetes or high blood pressure and all of the other key levels are now normal and in perfect ranges including the results for my liver, kidneys and heart. My doctor was very impressed with my dedication and hard work and wished that his other patients with the same diagnoses would do the same.

Now that I'm 50 years old I know that I must take care of myself physically and spiritually, especially if I'm going to finish the race the Lord has me running while on this planet.

Once October came to an end so did my ministry schedule. Except for a one-night event in November and the Worshipful Christmas I hosted in early December, it was not looking good for us for the Holidays. I, of course, have been praying and I'm blessed to have a few intercessors and a phenomenal ministry board praying with me about this as well.

After my birthday in mid-November, I knew I had to do something, so I reconnected with management at Kohls where I worked part-time a few years ago for the same reason then. I had left on good terms and had great favor when I was there, so they were very happy to have me come back which I have now been doing since late November. It's not what I had hoped or wanted to do at this point in my life but, Tis the season…to be jolly!

Sure, I get could really get down, disappointed and even angry about the situation because it doesn't line up with the prophetic words I got back in the early part of this year. In fact, it is the total opposite right now in every way. But it was also like that for Joseph, David, and many others in the Bible before their word/promises of the Lord came to pass.

Another thing the Lord spoke to me in September, while walking one morning, that I was to do another CD except for this time it would be my first live worship CD. This was not on my radar at all. In fact, I was preparing to do another studio CD project and it was going to be a Christmas CD. But I always obey God because I'm not going to win the argument anyway and He began to show me what songs were going to be on this new worship CD. I was able to connect and confirm with the two producers and musicians who would be part of this project and the venue to record it at. The only hurdle left was the cost to do it.

Since late November, I've had a Kickstarter fundraiser going to raise the $10,297 to do the whole CD project and with only 19 days to go (from the time of this writing) only $176 has been pledged so far. Not very encouraging when you see it written out like that, BUT I know a God who does miracles!

Tis the season…to be jolly! I'm still learning that the pressure is not on me to fulfill these words or projects. If God spoke it, He has to come through because His words never fail or return void. My role is to just believe and rest in Him knowing that all things are possible because of who He is!

It's funny but once I started back at Kohls, almost everyone one of my ministry board members either texted or called me and said this same exact statement. "remember, it's only for a season." There's that word again, season!

We really hear that phrase now with, it's the holiday season, it's the Christmas season, it's winter season, it's the season of_________ and the phrasing could go on but the point of all of this is, it really is just a season of life.

I realize that there are those who are going through things right now that are far worse than what I'm dealing with. It really is easy to get tunnel vision when you only see your circumstances through your own filtered lenses.

Whatever season you're in right now turn those lenses towards Jesus and His word. You may even have to get your praise and worship on because He is wanting you to know that the battle you face is not yours but His! Let Him carry you through it to victory.

I don't know exactly what the Lord is going to do and how He's going to do it. What may look like my defeat is really God preparing me for the victory that's about to take place. Don't forget, even David, the man after God's own heart, was discouraged but God still came through and fulfilled His promises to David.

In closing, since Christmas is just a few days away, make this a time of giving thanks to the Lord for what He HAS done this year. This is a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus and to remember those prophetic words about His coming in how they all came to pass at the right time in history. So, your promises are coming too – at the right time in history so be encouraged and don't give up. Tis the season…to be jolly!

Blessings and Merry Christmas to you all!
